Crisis in Egypt
Believers in Egypt need your urgent support and prayers
Parliamentary elections are still planned for Monday 28 November despite the deaths of at least 34 people in the last week. Churches are offering sanctuary and medical help to those injured in the worst violence since protests toppled President Hosni Mubarak in February. Egyptian Christians are being increasingly persecuted as they seek the right to practise their faith in freedom.
They need your support.
Please give now to strengthen and equip them to stand strong through the storm of persecution.
Open Doors partners are providing immediate support and medical assistance. Local pastors in Cairo have told us:
"The police and the army attacked even the clinics which were set up to help the injured. Teargas became a constant companion even inside our offices.
"70,000 Christians gathered to pray for 12 hours for the peace of our country, and for the spirit of fear not to fill the hearts of the Christians in our country.
"The coming few days are crucial in the future of Egypt, we are seeking the face of God for a better future and a tremendous harvest. Please pray with us."
It is critical that we stand with our brothers and sisters in Egypt to strengthen them in their time of need.
Please pray:
1. For an end to the current unrest
2. For Christians to be protected and be a source of strength to their communities
3. That the parliamentary elections will be free and fair, and the voice of Christians will be heard
Let us join with Egyptian Christians as they seek God's will and intervention in deciding the future of their country.
