24Hr prayer helped me to pray
Over the weekend (12/13 November) 4D Youth Project in Poringland held a 24hr prayer sleep over in TheAttic, a new youth venue for the area. Two young people from the area suggested doing the event and were keen to spend a solid time praying.
Just 5 young people attended the event, one who had said she's 'not quite yet ready' to call herself a Christian. The prayer room we created had sections looking at global needs for prayer including traffiking, world mission and international crisis. We also had a prayer net which hung from the ceiling and you could peg your post-it prayers.
The prayer wall was very well used. And the young people showed how creatively they can pray. With no instruction, they wrote letters to God, quoted scripture prayerfully, named friends they wanted to pray for, created inspiring works of prayerful art and simply said 'thank you'.
One young person said over facebook "i sometimes find it hard to pray but today really helped me with this because it gave me the time i needed to get my head around what i actually want to say to God."
I am completely inspired by the way these young people are growing in their faith. They are incredible in how earnestly they persue God. And believe me, He is meeting them as they look to Him.
Oh, and that girl who wasn't 'quite yet ready' to be a Christian? Well, yesterday (Monday), after hearing at a youth Alpha course why Jesus died for us, she decided that she wanted to follow Him and committed her life to Christ.
Praise God, because HE is faithful.
