24-7 PRAYER & ALPHA EQUIP THOUSANDS OF CHURCHES TO FILL 2012 WITH PRAYER

10th Nov 2011

"As the Olympic and Paralympic Games bring the nations to our door, we are calling upon God's people to pray that the name of Jesus will be lifted high in our lands once again," says Pete Greig, a founding champion of 24-7 Prayer.

The author of ‘Red Moon Rising' and Director of Prayer for Holy Trinity Brompton is helping to launch a year of prayer called Kingdom Come 2012 or KC:UK /IRL 2012.

Kingdom Come 2012 is a partnership between 24-7 Prayer and Alpha to encourage thousands of churches to fill an entire year with night and day prayer, aiming to build on the success of unprecedented years of non-stop prayer across Scotland in 2010 (‘The Big If') and Ireland in 2011(‘What If?').

A KC:Toolbox is brimming with free downloadable prayer resources and is accessible through the Kingdom Come 2012 website www.alpha.org/kingdomcome to equip individuals and churches who want prayer to spill out into mission and justice.

Pete Greig says: "Kingdom Come 2012 is an unprecedented opportunity for individuals to unite in prayer throughout 2012. There are so many great events, programmes and initiatives being planned and we are going to empower them all with a giant, year-long prayer meeting! Why not plan to organize a 24-7 prayer room or a special vigil where you live, using Kingdom Come resources? Or come along to a Kingdom Come worship and prayer event?"

Nicky Gumbel, Vicar of Holy Trinity Brompton says: "Kingdom Come 2012 is an exciting partnership between 24-7 Prayer and Alpha to support and mobilise prayer across the UK and Ireland next year. Prayer is the power behind our vision to see the re-evangelisation of our nations and the transformation of society. In 2012 we are going to be praying like never before."

Christians from every denomination are registering prayer walks, prayer rooms, prayer staking and prayer events on the website. Conversations about the year are being started on Facebook: KingdomCome2012 and Twitter @KingdomCome2012
