Olympic Park Prayer Walk
Start 2012 by prayer walking the Olympic Park
Saturday 7th January 2012 10.00m am - 12.00 midday
You are invited to join Christians from East London on the first Saturday of 2012 in a Prayer Walk of the Olympic Park.
Getting to the Start
We will meet on the towpath at the point where Eastway crosses the River Lee Navigation. There is parking in the nearby Lee Conservancy Road E9 5HW. Alternatively the W15 bus stop at the Kingsmead Estate in Homerton Road is only 10 minutes' walk along the Lee Conservancy Road to the same point on the Eastway bridge or you can reach the starting point from Hackney Wick Station [London Overground] via the White Post Lane bridge.
The Route
We aim to follow the towpath until it joins the Greenway which will lead us to the View Tube (the viewing platform for the Olympic site close to Pudding Mill DLR station) E15 2PH. The whole route is approximately 1.5 miles and we expect the prayer walk to take between one and a half to two hours, with stops for prayer at key points.
Please note that we do not enter the park but skirt along the edge of it with excellent views from the towpath. There are toilets, café, shop and an upstairs viewing area at the View Tube.
Or join us part way
If you want you could join us part way along at Old Ford Lock at the end of Dace Rd E3 2NG. [there is parking in the network of streets around Dace Rd]. Or join us at the View Tube E15 2PH on the Greenway at the end of the walk which can be accessed from Stratford High Street, Marshgate Lane and Pudding Mill Lane close by Pudding Mill Lane DLR Station. [there is virtually no parking near here - best park in Stratford Mall Car Park and walk up Stratford High Street].
Members of the More than Gold Prayer Team and others will be leading us in prayer for the Olympics, Paralympics and the main Olympic site.
No need to book - just turn up!
